Q: Is there such a thing as “truck insurance”, if so, how is it different from a basic auto insurance policy?

AIS Answer: There isn’t anything called truck insurance on a personal automobile insurance policy, however, there is when it comes to fleet or business vehicles and it’s called commercial truck insurance.

If what you’re looking for is commercial truck insurance to cover motor carriers, owners and operators - then what you’re after is a reputable insurance company that writes commercial truck insurance policies for these types of vehicles and to cover the business use of the vehicles.

    1. I put my truck on a commercial policy, but for personal use. It’s not difficult and as long as you use the truck for personal use only then it’s not an issue as far as getting a policy.

The commercial policy on my truck was really not that expensive and I thought it would be. Good to know I could cover my business truck and not have to deal with liability issues if I were to be in an accident under my personal car insurance with a truck under the business name.
