Q: I live in Seattle, WA and I recently got a speeding ticket. How much will my car insurance go up?
AIS Answer: Only your insurance company can tell you how much your auto insurance premium will rise or fall.
In Washington, like other states you need to be a safe driver in order to qualify for the lower insurance rates. One thing that may be in your favor at the moment is that your insurance rates can only increase at renewal (i.e. every 6 month policy renewal). If you’ve got some time left before you renewal you don’t need to worry about it just yet.
Also, the insurance company will have to run your MVR in order to see the new ticket – so that could be in our favor as well.

Getting a speeding ticket in Seattle probably pales in comparison to the cost of car insurance within the city. I’ve had a speeding ticket around that area, but since I didn’t live there I can’t say how your rates would change. I imagine it would be a typical increase not unlike any other area, but you’d probably see your already high rates even higher.
