Not Reporting an Accident To Insurance Company
I’ve been in a few single car accidents in the past and I’ve never reported them to my insurance company.
I don’t really like paying for the cost out of pocket, but honestly I could only imagine what my rates would be if I decided to file a claim and use my comprehensive and collision. I already pay thousands of dollars per year, I just don’t need that kind of stuff.
I’m not in any way recommending that someone not report an accident to an insurance company but when the reality is that it’s a single car accident with no damage to anything but the vehicle then it all comes down to whether you can afford to pay to fix it yourself. I just don’t believe that people should file a claim just because they got into an accident, chances are you probably could have come up with the $700 to fix the vehicle, because you know that $700 and possibly more with your increased liability and risk is coming out of your pocket in the future.

You should report accidents, or at the very least make sure that the repairs are done correctly otherwise the previous damage will not be repaired in a separate car accident.
