No Down Payment and Low Down Payment Auto Insurance Options
Q: Does any insurance company offer a low down payment or no down payment on auto insurance policies?
AIS Answer: There are probably a few companies out there willing to take the risk associated with insuring a driver on a guarantee that they will pay very little or nothing upfront, but it’s going to take some work to find one - and possibly a very good driving record.
The auto insurance industry was designed to cover the risk associated with¬† insuring a vehicle and its drivers. Generally a downpayment or initial deposit is required when starting a new policy. If you were to ask an auto insurance company to defer your initial down payment or lower it substantially, yet, still provide you with the proper insurance coverage until your next billing statement you may find a little hesitance on their part - though it’s not impossible to find an insurance company willing to work with you.
If you’ve ever purchased auto insurance before you might have noticed that your down payment is substantially larger than your next monthly installments (also depends on how many payments you’re making on the plan) and this is for a good reason. Each insurance company wants to get the most money out of the insured driver with as little risk as possible, and likely this larger payment insures the driver will stick around through the rest of the policy term (not leave for another insurance company in a month, etc) and it may also help offset any potential insurance claim pay-outs before your next installment.
Other factors to keep in mind are your driving record, age, sex, and location. Even if you were to find a company that allows a low down payment, or no downpayment - you still have to qualify for coverage. It’s very likely that any insurance company willing to forego or lower the initial insurance payment will want you to have a very good driving record with a proven history of maintaining the clean driving record.
As always. Speak to a licensed insurance agent that operates in your area, especially an independent insurance agent. An independent agent usually has a decent sized list of companies they work with and can tell you quickly what kind of options you’ll have regarding a no or low downpayment on a new policy - as well as other potential discounts and savings that may apply.

Who offers no down payment car insurance? Isn’t the whole point to collect money for offering coverage? I have never heard of a car insurance company that’s willing to let the first payment slide…it’s where they make their money.
You can find different payment plan options and those can be helpful, but that first payment is important to insurance companies.
I have never ever seen a car insurance company offer a no downpayment option…you must be joking.
