My in-laws gave me their old car when they were ready to get a new one. I was grateful for the gift, but it has a rather large dent in the front near the head light. When I found out where the dent came from, they told me that someone hit the car, but the damage was so minor that they just kept the insurance money instead of taking it in to have it fixed.
Now I have a car with a dent in it, and they got to keep the money. In my opinion, I think they should have just had the car fixed, especially since they had the money to do it. It’s not that bad of a dent, but a dent nonetheless. I think too many people do the same and drive around with banged up cars when their insurance company paid out money to have trash like this fixed. So if you file a claim do your insurance company, your car and everyone else on the road a favor and get it repaired.

instead of complaining, why dont you just thank them since they gave it to you for free… i mean, nobody in the world will give you a free car… you have to buy !
so be thankful,.. and i think, its their decision whether to keep the money or not, since its their car before..
so now that you got it for free, why not pay for the repair?
tsk.. people! are really not appreciative,..
that’s pretty cheap. Old cars suck.
