Massachusetts Auto Insurance: Update
It’s been a few months since an update on the state of Massachusetts auto insurance reform. We’re fast approaching April and a lot of Auto Insurance Stories readers are interested in updates on what’s happening in MA.
From what I’ve seen over the last year, more and more insurance companies are signing up to write auto insurance policies in MA, thanks to the new less restrictive policies that govern how insurance companies write policies.
On to the recent news…
Massachusetts Insurance News:
Progressive Insurance will enter the Massachusetts auto insurance market on May 1st, 2008. Progressive claims to save 18% over the average Massachusetts auto insurance premium - and honestly, we believe it. They are one of the leading low cost auto insurance providers in America and no doubt will help lower rates across the state as an average. Competition is always a good thing!
Massachusetts Department of Insurance has earmarked $500,000 to educate residents on the new auto insurance system set to enact on April, 1st. With some of the money they’ve launched a new website that will give MA residents an idea of how much they will pay for auto insurance under the new reform. I’m not sure if this is going to be entirely accurate because, well, it’s not a binding quote, but educational nonetheless. The rest of the money will be spent on advertising in the state.

that’s awesome news for Mass. residents. For years it’s been hard for people to find good car insurance, let alone cheap car insurance in MA. This should change especially with the new competition and Progressive is going to clean up in that state.
I agree. Massacusetts needs this badly. Rates are ridiculous and if you have a poor driving record it’s hard to find car insurance at a reasonable price.
it’s almost April…lets see how much this car insurance reform changes things.
