Massachusetts Agents Accuse Progressive Insurance of Not Abiding By States Rules For Insurance Rating Criteria
Independent agents in the state of Massachusetts have charged Progressive Insurance with violating the state’s new laws on collecting certain auto insurance information and only offering 6 month policies.
In the state of Massachusetts any insurer needs to have 12 month policies available, Independent agents in the state are saying according to Progressive.com’s online application - this isn’t the case. On top of the charges that there is no 12 month policy, the agents also claim that Progressive is asking questions about gender and marital status - both of which are against the state’s rules.
Currently the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents have asked MA commissioner to review the site and take action. Progressive maintains that their Massachusetts rating criteria has been approved and is not violating any rules.
