Honda Civic Auto Insurance: Can I Find It Cheaper?
Q: I’ve been looking around at some of the cheaper insurance companies to get quotes on my 2001 Honda Civic and I don’t know if I’m looking at the right companies because they want like $1,700/yr to insure a car that costs about $10,000.
AIS Answer: Low cost providers aren’t always the right answer, but, your insurance rate depends on so many other factors that the price of your vehicle isn’t always the most accurate equation.
Let’s assume that your over the age of 25 and have a decent driving record (i.e. no moving violations, speeding tickets, accidents in the last 5 years). You’re considered a lower risk or preferred driver - especially if you have a vehicle that’s inexpensive. However, the vehicle you own is a Honda Civic and if you don’t know, Honda Civic’s are one of the most stolen vehicles in the U.S. On top of that Honda, Toyota, Nissan and other imports are generally more expensive to repair than their domestic counterparts.
Of course, I don’t know your exact situation, maybe your driving record has a couple of speeding tickets and you’re under the age of 25, but the bottom line is that a lower priced vehicle doesn’t always guarantee low priced auto insurance.
To find the best rate for you, you need to compare as many auto insurance rates as you possibly can before making a decision. Get a few quotes online, or talk to an indpendent insurance agent in your area and they will likely be able to find the right insurance plan from companies they work with.
