About 6 years ago I was driving up to Canada from Oregon with a friend. I was driving with the flow of traffic, and that was about 75 mph. I was surprised to see a cop behind me with lights on wanting me to pull over.
So, there I sit on the side of the road wondering why exactly I was pulled over, thankfully the cop was there to tell me what I had done. Speeding. Throughout most of Washington State you’re looking at an even 60 mph, doing over 65 mph you’re subject to speeding tickets – 75 mph even more so.
The officer wanted to see my license, registration and auto insurance. I technically had all 3, but my auto insurance policy had expired the day before. I told the officer that the new policy card was in the mail and we had left on the trip before I could put a new one in. For some reason he let me go. I thought for sure that driving without proof of auto insurance was going to get me on that one (no I didn’t deliberately drive without prof of insurance).
All in all even though I got spd ticket outof it I’m thankful that I didn’t have to pay $400 for not driving with insurance.
