Q: I have a friend that drives without car insurance. I keep telling him that he’s going to get busted and lose his license. He insists that he can’t afford and still needs to drive. What can I do?
AIS Answer: This is always a tough situation. Auto insurance is rarely affordable for most people, yet, if you have a job you need to get to work.
You should mention that the price of auto insurance is nowhere near the price he would pay if he were to get into an accident. Nevermind vehicle damage, he could actually hurt someone. If this were to happen he could face a serious lawsuit in addition to a license revocation and loss of registration that already comes from driving without current car insurance.
An uninsured driver is not fair to everyone else on the road that carries auto insurance. Those that do carry insurance still end up paying for the damage that uninsured drivers cost insurance companies whether they know it or not. An insurance company will pass down any losses from uninsured or underinsured drivers on to customers that pay their premiums.
So tell him he’s costing responsible drivers money by driving illegally.
The end result is no matter how much money you think you’re saving not carrying auto insurance, it’s still illegal. If he’s so very concerned with the price of auto insurance then he may want to look into a carpool with co-workers, taking the bus, or walking to work if that’s an option.

outstanding! Do not drive without car insurance, for the sake of everyone else out there, please. If you can’t afford to pay for insurance, then you can’t afford to drive without it. No excuses.
yea man that’s not cool at all. don’t drive without car insurance.
what a loser. Get car insurance. If you can’t afford to F’ng buy car insurance, why in the cr@p do you need to drive? Do everyone a favor and walk or take the bus.
duuude…get car insurance or get off the road.
that’s so stupid to drive without car insurance…stay home if you can’t afford to buy it.
