I was heading out of a driveway trying to make a right hand turn across two lanes of traffic so I could get into the left turn lane, and some people stopped to let me out. Because both lanes were clear, I proceeded out and started for the left turn lane. A car decided it didn’t want to wait and got into the lane way too early and t-boned my Subaru Legacy.
I had the complete right of way as the other car crossed into the median to pass other cars. Because this was in New York State and there was a lot of traffic, I listened to the witnesses and moved my car to the side of the road. Therefore this the other driver told police what happened and said I was at fault for pulling out in front of them which was completely the opposite.
My story wasn’t even heard so the police report said it was my fault. My car was taken to an impound lot where my insurance company declared it totaled and I still had to pay for the impound fees. The insurance company gave me no money for a new car and had to pay for the other drivers’ fees. So if you are ever in an accident, do not move your car until police arrive or take pictures before moving it.

yes don’t move it! If you find yourself in an auto accident call the police immediately. When they get on the scene and survey the damage and take a report they will let you know if the vehicle needs to be moved. otherwise, this may happen.
I would’t move my vehicle without a report, or an officer telling me I had to move the vehicle.
that sucks! wow. I didn’t know you coudn’t move your vehicle. The person that hit you shoudl have been honest about the accident and who was really at fault.
