Q: Do I have to file sr22 in my state if I get a DUI.
AIS Answer: This is entirely up to the state in which you are licensed and subsequently have your license revoked. Most states require that you file SR22 after your license is reinstated for a period of up to 3 years.
Whether it’s called driving under the influence, driving while intoxicated, or other similar terms, it all amounts to you losing your license for a set amount of time (depending on number of offenses) and most likely filing SR22 with the DMV for the next 3 years.
Not all insurance companies will offer SR22 insurance and you may certainly find that rates are substantially higher. Of course, you need to check with your local courts, DMV and insurance agent/company regarding this matter. If you need to file SR22 it’s entirely up to you find out from the proper authority if you’re required to file.

yes you do…and you’re going to pay incredibly high rates with most car insurance companies for being a high risk driver.
