Didn’t Carry Comprehensive and Collision and Insurance Claim Was Denied
A few years ago I had damaged my vehicle while driving. This was a single person accident so there were no other parties involved. I stopped, assessed the damage to the vehicle and drove it back home. Later, I called my insurance company to file a claim.
I wasn’t sure how much coverage I had on the vehicle because I owned it outright and it was worth about $6,000. It turns out that because I wasn’t carrying comprehensive & collision the insurance company would not accept my claim.
Here’s the part that bugs me though. I had to recount the accident story twice, once to a different person. It wasn’t until after the second conversation that I was told I didn’t have adequate insurance coverage! I’m wondering if they just wanted me to admit to an accident so they could raise my rates, then tell me I didn’t have the right coverage on my insurance plan to fix the vehicle.
