I was driving a Ford Focus rental car through the busy New York streets when I realized I was driving the wrong way down a one way street. Another car was coming right towards me so I had to swerve out of the way. I hit the curb and scraped up the wheel of the car. Then while on the Expressway, a rock kicked up and cracked the windshield causing a chip.
In the New England heat the chip turned to several veins and the windshield was impossible to see through. Because I checked off on that little box denying to purchase the rental car insurance I was forced to deal with the damages. I didn’t want to file a claim with Traveler’s Insurance and have my rates go up so I paid for it out of pocket. The windshield was several hundred dollars and the wheel and tire were an additional couple hundred more. From now on, I always get the additional rental car insurance.
