Q: If I move to another state can I keep my old car insurance policy?
AIS Answer: No. Absolutely not. Whether you leave a city or the state completely, your auto insurance policy needs to be updated and re-assessed for the new residence and any other significant changes.
If you’re leaving any state for another, remember to notify your auto insurance company. It’s one thing to drive from one state to another, but it’s completely different when you reside in another state. You’re considered a resident when you live in a state, so if you no longer reside in the state listed on your current auto insurance policy you MUST contact your insurance company and change your policy to reflect any additional changes.
If you’re concerned that moving to another state will increase your auto insurance premium, don’t hesitate to get multiple auto insurance quotes from other companies. The general rule is to get at least 3 competitive insurance quotes from 3 different companies. This method will give you an idea of how much you’ll pay from various insurance companies and you may find yourself saving hundreds of dollars over your previous/current auto insurance premium.

I’ve moved to many different states and it’s always kind of a guess as to if you’re going to pay more or less. Getting a car insurance quote for the city you’re going to move to makes it easier, but doesn’t really matter all that much if you’ve got to move to that city anyway.
I’ve moved from city to city in roughly the same area and I usually keep my car insurance the same. I’ve found that if you move to a more densly populated area you’re going to pay more, and that can get really expensive in some cities.
uhhhh…no. You have to get different car insurance when you move anywhere.
I guess theoretically you can keep your car insurance from another state, but the insurance company isn’t going to cover your vehicle if it’s registered in another state and you reside there. You’re goign to have to ge a new insuranc epolicy if you move to another state.
can I keep my old insurance if I decide to sell my car but don’t want to get new insurance on a new car?
