Auto Insurance Website in MA. Drawing Complaints

Please contact a licensed insurance company for advice specific to your situation.

It seems that the auto insurance quote web site Massachusett’s developed using part of the $500,000 budget alloted to create awareness of its new auto insurance system starting on April, 1st - is finding its share of detractors (SEE:¬† Massachusetts Auto insurance Update).

A number of Massachusetts-area insurance agents are voicing their complaints regarding the accuracy (or lack there-of) of the new quoting system. Apparently the system is far less than accurate because of not-so-small details like not allowing an option to add another vehicle, or another driver. Even the accident section doesn’t give you a realistic time-frame.

It turns out that people in MA are contacting their current insurance companies and asking why they’re paying 100% more than the quote they got from the Massachusetts auto insurance web site. Then the poor agents have to remind them that quoting system is not taking into account they have a 2 people listed on their policy, more than one vehicle, and other details.

Although the website is a great idea to create awareness of the new auto insurance system, a non-binding auto insurance quote is just that - non-binding. If it’s not a binding quote and you can’t purchase the policy - then it’s nearly pointless.

Expect to see Mass. issue a response, or make revisions to the their website very soon.

    1. I haven’t seen the new car insurance website, but, I can honestly say I’m so glad that I don’t live in MA. It’s outstanding that they are getting managed competition or whatever it’s officially called, but the rates are still going to be high.
